Subject: Jerry Phil switching sides
Hah I remember freaking also when Jerry and Phil switched sides. I thought it was great because Jerry always seemed to have fun eyeballing Brent and really started riffing off eachother more. Good times...

Subject: Wagner's Source
I have Bob Wagner's masters at my house and I think they may be better. I'll use the 441 source for patching the tape flips.

And I helped my friend Matt tape.I can't remember if he used 441s or not but we were in the pit as that was where everybody taped b4 there was a taper section.I know there was a lot of masters made that night. This guy Matt I met in Seattle 81 and taped with him off and on till 83 when Ken and I got some 441s and a TCD5M.

Subject: bit overrated but interesting and worthwhile
A bit overrated, sloppy and lazy at points, but there's a strange psychedelic undertone the whole time and some moments of really intense stuff.

Subject: No show needs an upgrade for sound more
I can think of no show that needs a sound upgrade more than this one. This is a decent enough AUD but it's tragic that there's no SBD or perhaps a FOB or MOTB available that would allow for better overall sound, especially to hear Phil.

Show itself is 5 stars w/one of the best ever S>Fire's and a top notch EYES and NFA...the EYES esp. for being relaxed and groovy and not speeded out like most of its 80's bretheren.

3 stars for sound, 5 for set list and show, making an overall 4-star rating. But please, PLEASE, if anyone out there can magically produce an upgrade, we'd all be forever grateful.

Subject: One of the Finest Scarlet Begonias Ever
I am just transitioning into the Fire on the Mountain- never even noticed it was an aud because the jam was so unique and interesting- of course I wish I could hear Phil- it must be astounding what he was doing- but the brent and jerry interplay was interstellar overdrive- Don't miss this Scarlet at risk of the death penalty

Subject: funny the things we forget.
After reading the reviews of others here I had forgotten when jerry and phil had switched sides? It was a real big deal at the time. Funny how the little things ment so much to us as we followed them from year to year and town to town. As wavy use to say 'THESE ARE THE GOOD OLD DAYS' How true. The scope was rockin, remember the building shaking during scarlet fire. this not fade is before its time whith the crowd joining in at the end. I wish they had never gone to the not fade to close the set. Always loved the jammin not fades out of drums. Hartford ventura and the rocks to me are the last good not fade aways. I give it four stars cause was there and the sound is great. I prefer I good audience verses sound board anyway.

Subject: Another nugget in the goldmine
There's a whole string of shows here in early april that are a goldmine..what great stuff..This show starts out a little rough but smooths right out. Too many highlights to name, but CC Rider, All Over Now, Scarlett-Fire, Estimated and EYES are killers. Great stuff.

And Weir fans (like me) will love it. Great to hear his rhythm playing loud and clear.

Subject: This Show Is A Bit Of A Surprise! Nice FOB !!!
................................................................................................... This show is quite a jem with excellent "Up Front" sound. I really wasn't expecting such a good first set, nor such a sweet CC trans into Fire. This Eyes "cha-cha" rendition is rather interesting in its cadence. Nice change. It's tough deciding whether to christen this with five stars, with a less than totally smokin' end to the second set. And Jerry's mic didn't come on till the end of the first verse (I hope someone can splice in another night to clean it up... though it is a funny "historical" blemish.)
But overall, this is a very very good show. There is a bit of GDX Factor indahouse tonight. For me, if they'd done something other than Stella > OMSN, this Norfolk show would have been "All World". 4 3/4 Stars for this one.
Gregg Nixon's Compendium review is right on the mark. Definitely a keeper.
PS. Mark is right too. It would have been fun if the Boyz had played Promised Land.

The two copies of this show sound really similar. I'd wager they are from the same source. Just compare: http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=15149&from=otherCopy.

Also, check out the CC Rider!
Nothing like an early eighties GD AUD!

Subject: No Promised Land!??
What's up? They play a one-night-only show in Norfolk and they don't do Promised Land??? ("left my home in Norfolk, Virginia...." That's like Playing in Memphis and not doing Big River!

Good show, sound is fair-good but not great in my opinion. 3.5 stars.

Subject: The dope on the scope
Another great show, they were a bit looser than the night before(Cameron Indoor), people freakin on Jerry being on the Right side and Phil on the left.first set looks, sounded and contnues to sound great thanks to this fine recording. Killer Set II, Performances of Scarlet>Fire, NFA were unique and well received, this is a great recording that does justify how much fun we were having out there,Stella does not disapoint.

Subject: Listen to Bobby
This is a majestic show. I love AUD recordings, I think that the feel of a great audience "tape" adds power to the experience of listening to a show. This is a fantastic recording and it really brings out Bobby rhythm playing, which is absolutely ripping in this show. The Althea is Stand-Out, Let it Grow brings the first set up to the miraculous level and the second set takes it even further. Amazing sound for a "basement" style hockey arena! Listen to this one tonight!!
